About the webinar:
Theosis (deification) is famously associated with Eastern Orthodox tradition, and may at first seem a strange appendage to find in a Protestant thinker. Yet when Jonathan Edwards defined the notion of grace, he spoke of it as a ‘communication of divine fullness.’ What did he mean by this, and how might it relate to theosis, and what can Protestants learn from Edwards’s engagement with these themes? James Salladin will explore these questions and suggest some ways Protestants can gain wisdom from a critical engagement with theosis thought.
